about

'Along the Ramparts' works as a driving road anthem; inspired by the breathtaking beauty of the Teton mountain range and conversely the dark viewpoints that live beneath them. "Speak of today's tragedies, believing what you believe". Lyrically, the song is a resignation to rational thought. How can a place of such beauty produce such an ugly mindset—a complacency to gun violence, denial of truth in their government, global affairs, the state of the environment?

lyrics

hear the sound
eyes to the ground
marching orders into the sea
how can you believe what you believe
out of mind
absence of time
out of a passion that kept us alive
we attack them the rest of their lives
keep your head down
has truth been found
a vow to keep
a way to be free

it will be over when you wake
no repentance for mistakes
I’ll take as much as you can take

hold the line
the signal is dying
the voice at 4:43
words that you promise to keep
hallowed ground
a nameless town
speak of today’s tragedies
believing what you believe
night falling down
a vow to keep
it’s hard to see
the path to be free

it will be over when you wake
no repentance for mistakes
I’ll take as much as you can take

along the ramparts
the palisades come into sight
on the horizon
windows down
breath in the light
